BIF P-Comfort is a pigmented, low emission, crack-bridging and elastic polyurethane resin with a satin polyurethane sealing lacquer for light mechanical loads. The system is flexible, allowing where desired, a soft baselayer to be installed to provide a soft floor, seamless floor finish.

Our flexible floor finish has been installed in prestigious commercial, retail & residential environments where aesthetics are as important as durability. We import this system from a Swiss manufacturer because the qulaity of finish achievable is excellent, however we advise that only skilled or experienced individuals consider application of this system.

  • Application

Substrates to be coated must be firm, dry, load bearing and free of loose and brittle particles and substances, which impair adhesion such as oil, grease, rubber skid marks, paint or other contaminants.

A pre-treatment of the substrate by grit or shot blasting, high pressure water jetting, grinding or scabbing including the necessary post-treatment is only necessary, when the layer is soiled or the re-coating intervals have been exceeded.

After the pre-treatment the bond strength of the concrete must be at least 1.5 N/mm2 . The sub base must contain a moisture barrier (damp proof membrane D.P.M.). The moisture level must not exceed 4%. The temperature of the substrate must be at least 3°C above the current dew point temperature.

Priming: Sherwin-Williams Resuprime MVT is rolled on the pre-treated substrate by a roller in a thin layer – puddles need to be avoided. The consumption of Sherwin-Williams Resuprime MVT used as primer is approximately 0.3 - 0.5 kg/m2, depending on the conditions on site and of the sub-base. A 2nd application of Sherwin-Williams Resuprime MVTwith approximately 0.2 - 0.4 kg/m2 may be necessary to ensure, that all pores and capillaries are completely sealed.

When there is unevenness of >0.5mm, a scratch coat has to be applied in order to equalize same.

To ensure the adhesion of the following layer, the primer is broadcasted with quartz sand (grain size 0.3–0.8 mm) whilst still wet - without excess sand / no bald patches. Consumption of the quartz sand is approximately 1 kg/m2 . Quartz sand, which is (after curing) still loose and unbound needs to be vacuumed off. The whole surface has to be cleaned (before the next coat is applied) either sweeping or by vacuum cleaning.

Where aesthetics are important,  we recommend an intermediate layer of BIF P-Comfort Resin before applying the actual coating layer. This layer will close the pores of the quartz sand on the primer or scratch coat. For this purpose BIF P-Comfort Resin can be used with a consumption rate of approximately 0.8 – 1.0 kg/m2 .

Then the coating BIF P-Comfort Resin is applied either directly on the prepared substrate. Consumption rate of 2.5 – 3.0 kg/m2 .

The coating needs to be protected with our pigmented, elastic water based top coat BIF Pu-411

  • How much will I need?

Firstly, you will need to order sufficient BIF EP Primer-100 (or BIF EP Primer 110 if the concrete is damp).

The BIF P-Comfort resin is supplied as a 25kg unit.

A Wear Layer of not less than 3kg/m2 is recommended (8.3m2 per unit).

In addition, where aesthetics are important we recomend an intermadiate application layer of 1KG/m2 (25m2 per unit) is applied below the Wear Layer.

You will also need to order BIF Pu-410 Sealer ( approx 75m2 per 10kg unit).
